Leftover Easter ham? Make Monte Cristo Sandwiches

I have you covered if you are wondering what to do with all that extra Easter ham.  Try this spin on a Monte Cristo!  It’s a triple decker mound of gooeyiness!

Ingredients:

2 slices of ham

3 slices of Swiss Cheese

3 slices of white bread, crusts cut off

1 Tbsp of mayo

2 eggs

1/4 cup of whole milk

1 Tbsp of butter

Strawberry jam

Powdered sugar

Directions:

Spread may on the slices of bread.  Layer the sandwich in this order: bread, cheese, ham, bread, cheese, ham, cheese bread.

In a small bowl, whisk together eggs and milk.  Carefully dip the sandwich into the egg mixture, covering all sides.

In a hot skillet with melted butter, place sandwich in the center and allow to cook 4-5 minutes.  Then flip to cook on the other side.  Carefully place an upside down stainless steel bowl over the sandwich while it finishes cooking another 4-5 minutes.

Remove bowl.  Cut sandwich, top with a sprinkling of powder sugar and serve with a side of strawberry jam for dipping.
